The Trust recognises the contribution sport makes towards the development of young people, and the vital role it has in a well–balanced and healthy lifestyle. To this end, The Royal Bafokeng Sports (RBS) development programme received funding of R3 000 000 to support the implementation of the sports development programme in 29 villages in the Royal Bafokeng community. The programme is run in the afternoons and offers children access to sports such as soccer, athletics, martial arts, netball and rugby. In addition to this, the RBS promotes physical activity during school hours through the physical education (PE) programmes. This development programme keeps children off the streets, focusing their attention and energy on physical activity. During this period 650 young people were exposed to sports and recreation.
