Application process

Applications are received throughout the year, and undergo an assessment and evaluation process which includes panel reviews and site visits.

1. Proposal

The initial submission needs to be a brief summary of the concept, outlining key programme elements and related costs. After review for a fit with the IBT strategy and funding guidelines, the applicant may be invited to submit a full proposal.

2. Assessment

The detailed proposal is considered, which includes a visit by an evaluator who assesses risk, among other factors, and the organisation's capacity in relation to the programme. The evaluator then puts forward their recommendation to the IBT for or against support/collaboration.

3. Decision-making

Further visits may be necessary in the decision-making process and the implementing organisation may be requested to make a presentation to a panel. At the end of this process a decision is communicated in writing to the proposal originator.

4. Funding

Upon approval of the project a grant agreement outlining the deliverables and terms and conditions of the grant is drawn up and signed. This is followed by the release of funding at intervals agreed to.

5. Monitoring and reporting

This includes a combination of reports by the implementing organisation as per the agreement, as well as verification visits to the project by IBT representatives.
